Dear Colleagues,
I am honored to lead the Washington DC Dermatological Society with the new team, Dr. Allison Larson our Vice-President, Dr. Neelam Khan our Secretary-Treasurer and Mr. John Garza as our dedicated and long-time administrator for the calendar year 2025-2026. It is my great pleasure to welcome new and returning members. I would also like to thank our outgoing president, Dr. Shabnam Shahabadi for all her hard work.
This year, we are looking forward to having a blend of in-person and virtual meetings with CME credit opportunities for our members. We will also be hosting our annual social event in November 2025. This year we are going to try something new and have 2 social gatherings, one in Northern Virginia and one in Bethesda, to see if this would help facilitate attendance. Also, we will have our annual Resident Appreciation Dinner in February 2026. The format for this is to be determined, but I was hoping to have our members present interesting or difficult cases. Let me know what you think!
We look forward to our first in-person meeting hosted by Georgetown University/MedStar Washington Hospital Center Dermatology Department on Thursday, September 25, 2025. The speaker will be announced prior to the meeting.
As we all know, membership dues are a critical component of our finances that sustain the operating costs of our society. We are pleased to report we have not increased the membership fees this year, as I know we all have challenges in the current environment. We hope to continue to offer quality CME, as well as foster a tight-knit community for a good value. The link to pay dues can be found at: https://www.dcdermsociety.com/membership-application.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as your president this year. Please do not hesitate to contact me or the leadership team with your thoughts, suggestions, or ideas for improvement. I look forward to working with you all.
Warmest Regards,
Sara Brooks, MD FAAD
